Subtitle: Imagination taking power

Video: A Love Poem to Two Words – “What If?”

Last week I was in Brussels and was the keynote speaker at the Managenergy conference.  I used the talk to share some of the research I’ve been doing about imagination, some of which may be familiar to you if you are a regular reader of this blog.  They very fortuitously filmed it, and so I am able to share it with you here.  I hope you enjoy it.

It was fascinating to see you facilitating that opening coffee cup exercise, Rob. When I was doing my foundation year in design at art college, I vividly remember the tutors running that exact-same exercise but over an entire week, with the aim of filling as many sheets of A2 with ideas as possible. Some people managed to come up with over 500 ideas about one household object. It was undoubtedly the single-most important project the college ran to help hone our creative skills.

You have my attention, and thanks Chris, we did even the 90th in the computer business imagination workshops, what if/what event can bring our business down, and write that in scenario’s . Nice ideas came out like what if our director , who was an Italian, happens to be a part of the maffia? To bring those scenario’s in a positive context, like what if our town is the most green city of the world, it becomes transition , when it is transferred to actions done by citizens

Thank you Rob. Clearly explained and just so positive. I will share far and wide. We all need to know and be reminded of the pure joy and endless possibilities that come from using our imagination.

What if Seattle were a national park? Thanks for ongoing sparks of imagination, Rob and Transition Towns,
